More Spinal Health

Sleeping and a little reflection time causes me to want to add a few things to yesterday's post about spinal health.

  1. Walking is great for lower back pain. Staying in bed is NOT.
  2. Strengthening your abs is essential to combat back pain.
  3. Proper posture helps a lot -- something I really have to work on, especially while sitting.
  4. A book series that has really helped Dear Hubby: 3 books by Robin McKenzie -
Treat Your Own Neck
Treat Your Own Back
7 Steps to a Pain-Free Life (a combination of the other 2 books)

Because everyone is different, I'm not recommending these. You have to discover what is right for your situation, and be guided by common sense and your doctor. But these contain stretches and exercises that have helped DH a lot. We keep extra copies of these books and loan them out to friends.
