Peeper

This is another quilting tip, but also useful for other things -- like entertaining a 5-year-old. You can buy a door peeper from any home improvement store. When you look through it the right way, it makes things look very far away. What is that good for? I thought you'd never ask.

When you're putting a quilt together, you need to look at it from a distance to see if the blocks and colors are all balanced. It's hard to get far enough away from it to see the "big picture". You can look at it through a door peeper and get a completely different perspective. I imagine this would also be good for decorating a room -- looking at it from a distance. But hand it to any young child, and they'll have a blast for several hours checking out everything in sight. It would be a cheap, fun gift, or something good to keep in your purse for emergency kiddie entertainment.
